July 2026
Thank you for signing up to receive my newsletter. Corvus is the name of the raven in my novel The Witch and the Thief. Thank you to all those who voted in the poll to help me decide on the name for this newsletter. My goal is to send this out once a month to provide updates on my projects, share some poems, and talk about life.
I’m so glad you are here.
Life Lately
Since this is the first newsletter, I thought I would formally introduce myself.
I live in Texas with my husband, our daughter, and our dog. From a young age, I enjoyed escaping into my imagination to find worlds of magic and adventure. I write poetry and fantasy stories that are a little dark but tinged with stubborn hope. My goal is to create worlds full of magic and intrigue that help people feel seen, understood, and develop empathy for the beautiful souls that inhabit our world.
Some random things:
I taught middle school ELA and AVID for five years.
Outside of reading, writing, and chasing my toddler around, I enjoy baking, watching horror movies, and playing soulslike games.
As an ELA teacher, I would often write with my students, but I didn’t start taking fiction writing seriously until about five years ago when I started writing my first novel after finding inspiration from a Dungeons and Dragons campaign I played with friends. Since then, I’ve written three full-length novels, several short stories, and many poems.
This summer has already flown by. I live in Texas, so it’s HOT, which means I try to get my daily walk or run done in the morning along with anything else I plan to do outdoors that day.
I’m still flipping furniture to earn the extra cash to pay for editing, but when I have down time, I’ve been playing Lords of the Fallen. I’m loving it so far! The world is dark and intriguing and the dual world mechanic is very fun. I’ve also found it to be easier than Lies of P, Elden Ring, and Bloodborne, and since I don’t have as much time to dedicate to gaming right now, that is something I appreciate.
I’m a huge horror movie fan, and I finally went to see Obsession this past weekend. The movie does a wonderful job taking an idea that feels old and worn out, you get what you wish for, and making it feel modern and interesting. The characterization and creepiness were also top tier.
Works in Progress
The Witch and the Thief
I recently worked with an editor on The Witch and the Thief. I’ve been working on implementing those edits, and I’m still querying. At this point, I’m still hopeful I will find the right agent.
The Sorceress of the Bone Grove
This is the novella I’ve been working on. I’ve worked with two amazing editors, and I’m planning to release this as an ebook some time in the next few months once
I finish editing, proofreading, and formatting. Be on the lookout for the cover release and more details soon!
Project God War
Drafting is on pause while I work on The Witch and the Thief and The Sorceress of the Bone Grove edits.
Duskborn
Revisions are on pause while I work on The Witch and the Thief and The Sorceress of the Bone Grove edits.

Poetry
Stars he tried to keep her but she had always belonged to the stars when he tried to cage her she turned to dust and slipped between the bars of his grasp her particles rose to coalescing to rejoin the stars above Eroding Thoughts my thoughts erode given time and space met with resistance contradictions that cause me to ponder and chisel them down holes appear allowing me to sink into the depths reexamine everything sculpting my thoughts revealing marvels breaking them down polishing them smooth until they are ready to be weathered again Thorns a single blooming rose brilliant, perfect, delicate until you’re met with thorns that pierce your flesh bright pricks of pain, reminders that beauty has a price one too often paid in blood
Exciting things to come!
With love,
Amanda
